Quit smoking in third trimester…. need help..?

I found out I was pregnant when I was about five months (long story) and I had been smoking already. >.< I was down to 2-3 a day for a while, and everyone told me it was "fine". Even my midwife and all the nurses.

In fact I was TOLD.. quitting smoking when you’re that far along would put stress on the baby and cause more problems.

But I’m nine months now, and I just recentally stopped because I had a different OB Gyn who actually helped me quit instead of telling me not to worry about it. And told me that was all crap about the baby stress. (even set me up with a support group for pregnant mothers, really cool.)

Anyway I woke up this morning (not smoking, not really craving it) But I ended up throwing up yellow … syrupy stuff for hours. My throat is killing me. I’m wondering if I should be drinking a lot of gatorade to keep hydrated and if I can have cough drops.. and how many a day.

And if any other mothers quit while they were pregnant, if they have any tips….especially late in pregnancy would really help.
i already did stop nikki… lol..
I forgot my doctor already told me to drink gatorade because I was dehydrated… >.< lol I forgot about that.

He didn’t say how much though..

I quit cold turkey when I found out at 4 weeks so I haven’t smoked in over 4 months. It is really hard and I know where you’re coming from. Yellow syrup makes me think of stomach acid. Could it be that? Sometimes, I would throw up the same thing in the mornings and it was horrible. Gatorade is a definite must, also smart water. Anything with electrolytes in it. Your body HAS to have electrolytes to function. Cough drops, I don’t know if you can take them. I guess it depends on what kind, but I would stick to the vitamin C drops. They help just as much for me. I just had to stay at home and not be around any of my friends because they all smoked. Most of them were kind enough to take it somewhere else. You’ll be fine. I’m just glad you’re trying to quit unlike some people and they wonder why their kids have chronic asthma.

Is excessive burping a symptom of quitting smoking?

I quit smoking and I can’t seem to stop burping, homer style, if it is in fact a symptom of quitting smoking how do i reduce the burping?

nope excessive farting is. if u cant stop farting it means you are in the final stages of quitting.

Does anybody actually gained weight after quitting smoking?

I know cigarettes fasten your metabolism and that’s why they smokers do not gain weight as much as non-smokers, but I kind of think it’s not that so true. I’ve been a smoker for about 8 years. Quit it for about a month a few years back and not put on any weight. In fact, quitting, made me lose my appetite a little.

What about you? Does anybody gained weight after quitting? If so, how? (Did you start to eat more than usual?

People that gain weight after quitting do so because they are replacing their addictive habit with nervous eating. They feel like they need something in their hands and mouth at all times, so junk food and candy becomes their new addiction. Only slightly less unhealthy.
